This past weekend was the third annual Signal Mountain camping clinic. This is always a great event and is hosted by the Cub scouts at Pack 3116. Camping stations are ran by lots of adult volunteers and the Boy Scouts from Troop 116. The event is open to all Cub Scouts, Boy Scouts and Girls scouts on Signal Mountain. Scouts learn basic camping skills such as starting a fire, dutch oven cooking, knife safety and basic first aid. We need to give a big shout out to the men of the Signal Mountain Police Department and the Signal Mountain Fire Department that showed up and helped.

Pack 3116 on Signal Mountain is the only Cub Scout pack on Signal Mountain that has opened its doors to girls that want to be a part of Cub Scouting. Several of the girls in these pictures are in both Girl Scouts and Cub Scouts. After talking to more and more people I feel that a girl can be involved in both side the programs are completely different and teach the girls different skills. Signal Mountain has more children enrolled in scouts then any other part of Chattanooga. Because of this we have some very strong Packs and Troops on Signal Mountain and they just seem to get stronger every year.

The Signal Mountain camping clinic is getting bigger and better every year and we are looking forward to next year already. If you have a child in scouting or you have one that is thinking about getting involved in scouting I recommend that you try to make this event next year.

How do I get my child involved in Scouting?
