Don’t Let The Winter Blues Get You Down, Start Spring Cleaning!
Whether you find yourself with a longer cleaning to-do list due to the holiday guests, in need of a decluttering after Christmas, or feeling a bit stir-crazy from being inside during the cold weather - whatever it is, you might as well get a head start & get that honey-do list for your husband started!
Wash & Disinfect Garbage Cans
How long do you go before cleaning the trashcan? I know we have gone way too long without even thinking about it! There are many ways to go about cleaning the wastebaskets but mixing 50/50 vinegar and water will do just the trick! Add in some baking soda to that mix for stubborn residue.
Clean Windows & Wash Screens and Curtains
With all the leaves falling from the trees over the fall months, windows can be covered with dirt and debris. A mixture of 1/4 cup vinegar, 1/2 tsp dish detergent, and two cups water can leave your windows sparkling. Don’t forget to clean the screens and curtains for an extra thorough job!
Wash and Disinfect Toilet Brushes and Holders
Throw the holder and brush in a bucket of hot water and bleach to disinfect, they will be good as new! Then go clean your toilet, cause it probably needs it!
Dust Ceiling Fans
Dust can settle on things we don’t even think of! But one thing you’ll want to clean before the warmer season is the ceiling fan. Clean with a microfiber cloth or a pillow case! Easy peasy and will take only a few minutes per fan.
Vacuum Upholstered Furniture and Beds
Take off the cushions of the couches and chairs, dig out the toys and the remote you lost 3 months ago, and vacuum up all the crumbs. Then take the sheets and bedding off your mattress, vacuum the tops and sides, rotate & flip the mattress, and put fresh bedding on. You’ll never sleep so good!
A few extra tips!
Put things out in the sunlight to dry! It will help eliminate bacteria.
Don’t get overwhelmed! It can seem like a lot to do but come up with a way to make it not so daunting. Clean as you go, set a timer and focus on one room at a time, or try a one-thing-a-day approach.
Prioritize and focus on balance over perfection.
Get your family to help out! It can be a good bonding time with your kiddos.
Get a pro to do the some of the tasks you’d rather not do! Then focus on the ones that you find easier & more enjoyable.
